2006 Mason & Hamlin A ES

1 / 4

The Mason & Hamlin Model A is a 5-foot, 8.5-inch (174 cm) grand piano that is widely regarded as one of the premier instruments in its size class, delivering the power and resonance typically reserved for much larger pianos. Handcrafted in the USA since 1854, it features an exceptionally heavy construction centered around massive hard-rock maple rims and the company’s patented Tension Resonator, which preserves the crown of the soundboard for lasting sustain and stability. The Model A also incorporates the innovative “Screw Stringer” mechanism, which utilizes vertical hooks and a cast-iron harp to improve tuning stability by up to 75 percent compared to conventional wooden pin-blocks. Since 2011, it has come standard with the Wessel, Nickel & Gross (WNG) composite action, utilizing carbon-fiber parts designed for high performance and a life expectancy of over 100 years. These design elements result in a tonal profile that is lush, singing, and powerful, distinguished by an even more powerful bass and a clearer treble than typical American-style pianos.
