1962 Steinway & Sons L MP (Restored)

1 / 4

The Steinway Model L is a 5′ 10½” (179 cm) “Living Room” grand piano produced by Steinway & Sons in New York from 1923 to 2005. Designed to balance a full, rich tone with a size suitable for homes, it is distinguished by its “square-tailed” design, which allows for a larger soundboard area than other grands of similar size. This architectural feature contributes to a powerful sound and a responsive action highly valued by serious pianists. Available finishes for the Model L have included Polished Ebony, Ebony Satin, and various “Onyx” versions. Instruments from the “Golden Age” (1920s–1940s) are particularly prized and can feature exotic wood inlays, such as Macassar Ebony. Restored or rebuilt models represent a significant investment in craftsmanship.
