Victorian Steinway Model B ‘Parlor Grand’ Piano | Satin Ebony – Restored & Refinished #123282 F irst introduced in 1878, the Steinway Model B has come to be known as the ‘perfect piano.’ Long a favorite of concert pianists, these ‘seven-foot’ grand pianos offer a wonderful range of tone and precise, responsive actions. Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Piano #123282 was crafted in 1906, during the true golden age of Steinway Factory quality. This rare, Art Case instrument features a round arm cabinet design with double narrow moldings around the case, a music desk featuring scrolled moldings, hand-carved Victorian ice cream cone style legs resting on ‘high’ casters, and a large box pedal lyre with carved supporting rods. The cabinet has will be expertly refinished in a closed pore, hand-rubbed satin ebony lacquer. This contrasts beautifully with the re-plated, original nickel hardware. Steinway Model B #123282 speaks of the luxury and elegance of a bygone era. This art case instrument is not just a work of visual art, it is also a piano worthy of any performance stage! The piano’s action will be rebuilt with the finest quality parts including new Steinway wippens and genuine Steinway hammers and new shanks and flanges. New German Kluge style keytops have been installed to the original keysticks. The original ebony sharps have been carefully sanded and polished for a consistent feel across the keyboard. Our piano technicians have completed extensive action and tone regulation to bring out a responsive touch and the iconic, New York Steinway tone. The original damper heads have been refinished and new damper felts have been installed. The original damper back action and pedal system have been fully restored. New premium German music wire and custom copper wound bass strings will be fitted to blued tuning pins. These are then driven into a new, custom-fitted hard maple pinblock. A new solid spruce soundboard will provide for optimum stability and quality of tone. The cast iron plate will be re-bronzed and the raised lettering carefully hand-detailed. This is an absolutely stunning vintage instrument and it will surely be the centerpiece of any room it is placed in. It is hard to believe that art case Steinway Grand Pianos, like this one, were the ‘norm’ during the period in which this piano was built! The late 19th, early 20th century is the time that Steinway truly cemented itself as the world’s premier piano builder. Today, if you want a new piano of a similar replicated style, it must be special ordered at exorbitant cost. This piano is a true example of the golden age of piano craftsmanship.
