1919 Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Piano #229649 – Undergoing Restoration @ Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc. W ith a length of approx. 6’11” in length, the Steinway & Sons Model B has grown to become one of the world’s most famous musical instruments. Dubbed by some to be the ‘perfect piano’, these seven-foot instruments are often chosen by professional and amateur musicians as their personal practice instruments. It is not uncommon to see these pianos gracing concert stages as well! The length of these ‘parlor’ grand pianos offers them a wonderful balance between manageable size and concert-quality performance. These instruments were first introduced in 1878, and production has been consistent at the New York and Hamburg factories since that date. Model B #229649 was built in 1919 at the New York Steinway & Sons Factory. Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc. is pleased to offer a large selection of premium restored Steinway & Sons pianos – and this includes a number of Model B parlor grands. Our extensive regulation and voicing process brings out the best that these iconic instruments can be and ensures a true Steinway level of tone and touch. Currently undergoing restoration, this piano’s action will been fully rebuilt with new, highest-quality parts. This includes new dimensionally correct wippens, and new hammers mounted on new shanks, and flanges. An inspection of the piano will conclude whether to install a new damper back action or restore the existing components. The action will be fully regulated and voiced by our technicians. New premium music wire and custom copper wound bass strings will compliment blued Klinke tuning pins. A new custom-fitted pinblock made of hard rock maple coupled with a new solid spruce soundboard will ensure stability and quality of tone.
