According to published Bechstein serial-number references, Serial No. 2960 places this instrument in 1867 production this is an early Bechstein built during the company's formative years when their grands were already earning international acclaim. Built in Bechstein's early production era, this piano features a dense, singing tone and robust construction that made Bechstein grands sought after by concert artists in the late 19th century. This Bechstein piano exhibits age-related deterioration, including cracks in the pinblock near the tuning rods. There are also signs of previous repairs, such as a block repair on the bass cheek.
