1983 Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano | Polished Ebony – #486399 – Restored F irst introduced in 1884 and still in regular production at both the New York and Hamburg Factories, the Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano is the instrument by which all other concert pianos are judged. The pinnacle of Steinway piano design, these instruments measure just under nine feet in length. Often featured on the stages of the leading premier concert venues in the world – they are just at home in the residences of many Steinway aficionados and advanced pianists. Steinway & Sons Model D #486399 was built in 1983 at the New York Steinway & Sons Factory has received a well-deserved full restoration by Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc. This stunning example of Steinway quality has returned to its deserved place as a concert-level, concert-ready Steinway grand and is ready for your examination in our piano restoration facility. The piano’s cabinet features square arms and tapered, spade legs. The cabinet was refinished in a satin ebony, hand rubbed lacquer. Solid brass hardware contrasts against the sleek black cabinet with the interior hardware re-plated in brilliant nickel. The backbone of the piano, the cast iron plate was rebronzed in a brilliant gold sheen. The piano’s action has been fully rebuilt with new Steinway hammers, and new shanks, flanges and wippens. Expertly voiced and regulated by our piano technicians, it is capable of supporting the repertoire of any concert pianist. The piano’s original soundboard was expertly restored and a new custom fitted hard maple pinblock was installed for optimum stability. The powerful scale design of the Model D is on full display and it is sure to fill the far corners of any concert hall!
