1926 Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano | Satin Ebony – #242422 – Undergoing Restoration F irst introduced in 1884 and still in regular production at both the New York and Hamburg Factories, the Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano is the instrument by which all other concert pianos are judged. The pinnacle of Steinway piano design, these instruments measure just under nine feet in length. Often featured on the stages of the leading premier concert venues in the world – they are just at home in the residences of many Steinway aficionados and advanced pianists. Steinway & Sons Model D #242422 was built in 1926 at the New York Steinway & Sons Factory and is currently undergoing a full restoration by Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc. This golden-era instrument is sure to return to its deserved place as a concert-level, concert-ready Steinway grand! The piano’s cabinet features square arms and tapered, spade legs. The cabinet will be refinished in a satin ebony, hand rubbed lacquer. Solid brass hardware contrasts against the sleek black cabinet. The backbone of the piano, the cast iron plate will be rebronzed in a brilliant gold sheen. The piano’s action will be fully rebuilt with new dimensionally correct wippens and new hammers, shanks and flages. It will be expertly regulated and voiced by our team of piano technicians. The piano will receive a restored factory original soundboard and a custom fit hard rock maple pinblock for optimal tone and stability. The powerful scale design of the Model D is on full display and it is sure to fill the far corners of any concert hall!
