1904 Steinway & Sons B

Year: 1904 Finish: Tiger Mahogany Size: 6’11” This 1904 Steinway Model B in tiger mahogany, with its original ice cream cone legs, is an exceptional example of early 20th century Steinway design, fully rebuilt to meet modern musical expectations while preserving the character that makes these instruments so compelling. Built by Steinway & Sons during one of the company’s most revered periods, this 6’11” Model B offers the scale, power, and tonal depth that have made it the most sought-after Steinway size for serious pianists and performance-level homes. The tiger mahogany veneer is richly figured and visually striking, giving the piano a presence that is both elegant and unmistakably historic. The piano has been fully rebuilt, addressing structure, action, and tonal foundation, resulting in an instrument that is responsive, stable, and capable of a wide range of color and dynamics. It retains the warmth and complexity associated with early Steinways, while delivering the control and reliability expected of a modern instrument. The Model B is often considered the ideal balance—large enough to command a room, yet perfectly proportioned for refined residential or studio settings. In this case, the combination of age, rare finish, classic leg style, and comprehensive rebuild makes this piano especially distinctive. A remarkable Steinway that honors its origins while offering decades of inspired music-making ahead. Available for private viewing and audition. Inquire for details.
