Yamaha G3 Piano: What It's Worth in 2026, Prices & Listings

Size: 6'0"–6'1" (183 cm) grand
Made: G series, 1960s to early 1990s; superseded by the C3

The Yamaha G3 is the G-series counterpart to the C3: a six-foot grand built for homes and smaller studios during the 1960s–1990s. It offers the size that makes a grand sound like a grand, at G-series prices.

Used G3s are common and vary widely; the best have been refurbished and regulated, the worst have sat untouched for thirty years.

What to know about the Yamaha G3

The G3's six-foot scale gives convincing bass; the difference from a C3 is in action refinement and tonal complexity.
Many G3s on the market have been refurbished by dealers; check what was actually done (hammers, strings, regulation) rather than trusting the word.
Original 1970s examples that were rarely played can be excellent value.
