1894 Baldwin L King Louis Grand ES (Rebuilt)

The 1894 Baldwin Model L “King Louis” Grand is a rare and historically significant 6’3″ American-made grand piano, representing the craftsmanship and artistry of late 19th-century Baldwin instruments. Often restored to showcase an ornate, hand-carved French Provincial-style cabinet, this piano is as much a decorative statement piece as it is a high-performance musical instrument. Built as part of Baldwin’s Artist Series, the Model L is renowned for its rich, warm tonal character, featuring a powerful, resonant bass and a clear, singing treble that provides excellent balance across the keyboard. Its construction includes handcrafted elements such as a durable maple rim, quality soundboard materials, and precision action components, all contributing to its dynamic range and expressive responsiveness. Favored for both classical and jazz performance, the Baldwin L “King Louis” Grand offers a combination of historic elegance, robust American engineering, and refined musicality. Today, restored examples are especially prized by collectors, performers, and enthusiasts seeking a piano that blends antique beauty with enduring performance capability.
